Collaroy Plateau Community Kindergarten Inc. CPCK offers a play-based, child-initiated preschool curriculum across three key environments. We provide a social environment that fosters a strong sense of community and belonging, an emotional environment that is beautifully nurturing and a physical environment that is natural and inspiring.
Collaroy Plateau Community Kindergarten has an exciting announcement – where previously children could only attend the community preschool for either the Monday/Tuesday program or Wednesday/Thursday/Friday program, now management and staff have decided to offer a more flexible approach from 2020.
The Preschool has now added Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday and Thursday/Friday group options to their program.
Director Susan Sorensen explains “Over the past few years, we have had increasing requests for two-day and three-day options at both ends of the week. CPCK’s Management Committee has discussed, considered and weighed up the benefits of a more flexible program with staff and families. As a result, it has been decided to offer the two and three day options”. For more information about the preschool, please visit www.cpck.com.au.

Education in the early stage of life is the foundation for independence, inclusion and employment. So much of a child’s learning is through incidental visual learning and occurs with family. Children who experience a vision impairment learn less by watching others and more through fun and accessible play activities.
Vision Australia’s Readiness groups for parents and carers have been specifically developed to help you build the skills and knowledge needed to support your child to be successful in the home environment and the community, now and in the future.
The groups will include educational sessions for parents/carers about the child development areas they identify as important for their children. These sessions will focus on supporting parents and carers to implement key strategies to support their child at home and in the community with life skills, independence and social inclusion.

The following steps should be followed, should your child experience a fall, injuring their arm;
“Supervision is key to minimising the chances a child having a fall and it only takes a split second for this to happen while a child is busy playing. The severity of the fall your child takes is a big indication to the type of injury in which they may have,” adds Mary.
Do a sight – sweep of all areas of play, looking at the potential hazards and the high places children may jump from before letting your child play.
Educate toddlers and older children of the dangers of jumping from high places and climbing on outdoor equipment. Importantly, explain to children that if they were to fall, they could find themselves in a lot of pain, and they should call for help immediately. Remind them to stay calm, without moving the injured area too much.
Please note, these tips and advice are not substitute for first aid knowledge. A first aid course- especially one dedicated to children’s first aid - such as the First Aid For Kids course will equip your and your kids with the skills needed in such an emergency and you will be grateful you spent the time learning the vital skills.
