Kinma is a unique child-centred learning environment offering innovative programs for children in their primary and preschool years. It’s a place where children genuinely love to learn, where they acquire values and skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Established in 1972 and celebrating our 50th birthday this year, Kinma (an aboriginal word meaning ‘awake’) is based on the philosophy of progressive education providing excellence in education.

Kinma Preschool offers a play-based, child-centred curriculum in a nurturing and exciting learning environment where children can choose to participate in a wide range of activities during the preschool day. Kinma Primary offers an innovative learning programme that covers all six key learning areas in the NSW Board of Studies curriculum and caters equally for all aspects of development; social, emotional and academic.

We believe that children learn best in an environment where play and discovery are central. Kinma's learning programme is accredited by the NSW Board of Studies and has been awarded the highest level of registration possible.  Teachers and children approach learning as a shared experience. Kinma is recognised at university level as one of the few schools in Australia practicing learner-directed education.
